ELKHART -- Dale Thomas Barnett, 54, of Thorton Street, died at 8:41 a.m. Monday (Jan. 7, 2008) at his home, surrounded by family. He was born Feb. 22, 1953, in Mishawaka, to Gerald Barnett and Norma Jane (King) Holt. Mr. Barnett is survived by his father of Las Vegas; one son, Justin Dale (Lori) Barnett of Plymouth; a sister, Karen (Steve) Bottorff of Stuart, Va.; a half-brother, Mark Barnett of Las Vegas; four granddaughters; Dale's companion and her children, Lois Weiderman of Elkhart and Tracie L. and Steven W. Weiderman, at home; and his good friend, Steve (Kathy) Smitha.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Norma Jane Holt and Bennie Rivers.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 10, 2008) at the Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home, 1109 Lincolnway West, Osceola. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery, Wakarusa. A memorial wake and luncheon will take place after the services on Thursday at "THE RES" hotel and reception facility in Mishawaka.
Mr. Barnett was a master restorer of vintage motorcycles and a 1971 graduate of Penn High School. He held his black belt in Aikido Martial Arts and was a member of the E.A.A. (Experimental Aircraft Association) which met at the Mishawaka Pilots Club. He was a Master Falconer and piloted them as well.
